Asmaʾ al-tmr according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

1. Ash-shish and ash-shisha': the date whose pit does not harden, or which has no pits, or the poorest of dates; the singular: shisha and shisha'a. Ashash an-nakhil wa-shish: the palm was not pollinated, so it degenerated, and it was laden with shish. 2. Al-hashaf: the worst of dates, the one that dries without ripening.
