Definition Fard

Fard according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

What is established by certain proof without doubt: its denier deemed unbeliever, its leaver punished.

Fard according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Lexically: estimation; said: the impossible is not impossible, that is, by its estimating. In the sense of reason’s permitting, as in their word: the understood, if its truth’s estimating on many is impossible, is partial, else general: that is, if reason cannot estimate its truth, else the partial can estimate its truth on many, as manifest. Estimation in Persian: andazeh kardan.

Fard according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Of the thing: widening. The thing, in fradh: enclosing it. The affair: making it due; in the noble Quran: « a sura We sent down and imposed, wherein We sent down clear verses: haply you remember » (an-Nour 1). Allotted him. Said: the affair was fradh him in giving: a portion measured him.
