Definition Humq

Humq according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Reason’s corruption, or setting the thing besides its place knowing its ugliness; madness and dementia sharing reason’s corruption and ill conduct. Al-Azhari said: the verb hamiqa, he hammaq, ta’ab’s paradigm; hamiqa yahmaqu, he ahmaq; the woman hamqa’; the verbal noun hamaqa.

Humq according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

So-and-so: hammaqa: his beard whitened; he hamq. His reason lessened: he ahmaq, she hamqa’; plural houmq. Hamaqa, hamaqa: reason lessened. Doing the madman’s deed: he ahmaq, she hamqa’; plural houmq, houmqi, hamaqi men, women. Ahmaqa: begetting a mad child. Of two: mentioning by madness. So-and-so: finding him mad. Al-hamaq: reason’s corruption. Al-houmouq: madness. Al-houmq: madness.

Humq according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

A flaw in the thinking faculty, invalidity by insipid or material cold, or dryness, or both together: practical reason’s lessening.

A corruption in reason, mentioned in at-Tahdhib (Tahdhib al-Lougha of al-Azhari, word hamq).
