Definition Murua

Murua according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is a strength of the soul, principle of the fine acts’ issuing, drawing praise by Law, reason and custom.

Murua according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

With hamza, on souhoulou’s pattern: humanity. Al-Jouhari said: and you may strengthen it. Abou Zayd said: the man’s mouro’: he came to mouro’a, he is marrou’ on fa’il’s pattern; tamourrou’a: affecting mouro’a. Ibn ’Arfa said: mouro’a is maintaining abstaining what he leaves of permissible drawing blame by custom, as leaving sandaling in a land deeming it ugly walking likewise barefoot, and leaving what he did of permissible drawing blame by custom, as eating among us at market or the cook’s tavern other than the stranger. Related from az-Zahir: mouro’a is what is permitted without his being obliged; he said: it is of what Allah commands, Allah said: « Allah commands justice and benevolence ».
