Definition Tanaqud

Tanaqud according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is two propositions’ differing by affirmation and negation, their essence demanding one’s truth and the other’s lie, as we say: Zayd a man; Zayd no man.

Tanaqud according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

One of the two matters being single, or two propositions, or differing, raising the other explicitly or implicitly: Zayd ’Amr’s contrary raising him, but implicitly, each of the two the other’s contrary.

Tanaqud according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)
