Tjahl al-ʿaarif according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

As-Sakkaki named it: treating the known element as if it were other for a rhetorical subtlety. And he said: I do not like to name it feigning ignorance due to its occurrence in the speech of Allah the Exalted. And this subtlety is like reproach and exaggeration in praise or blame. And the first is as in the saying of a Khawarij woman named Layla bint Tarif mourning her brother.
