📖 1 min readThe first: it is specification by mention, as in the statement Zayd is standing, for the predicate in question, namely standing, is suitable for various subjects without being specified by a single specific one among them or restricted to it. Then, if you specify Zayd among them by the objective attribution of standing and make standing a predicate for him in order to indicate the establishment of standing with him without negating standing from others, you have then specified Zayd by mention. And the second: it is the specification of a matter by something, meaning that that matter is established for that thing and is not found in another, as when you say: I spoke and I exerted effort, and no one else, meaning that both the speech and the effort are specific to me and are not found in anyone other than me.
