Definition of Ḍḥā

Ad-duha: the spreading of the sun and extension of day.

The time bears this name.

The Almighty says: 'By the morning brightness' (Ad-Duha 1). 'And the day when it appears' (Ash-Shams 3).

Ad-duha refers to mid-morning when the sun rises.

Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play?

[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning."
