Definition of Dlk

Dulûk al-shams: the sun's inclination toward setting.

Allah says: 'Establish prayer at the decline (dulûk) of the sun' (Al-Isrâ': 78).

This verse prescribes afternoon prayers: dhuhr, 'asr, maghrib and 'ishâ'.

Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.
