📖 1 min readThe All-Wise is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One whose knowledge is perfect and whose every act is rightly ordered.
To pronounce the name The All-Wise in Arabic, we say: Al-Hakim.
It is written in Arabic: الحكيم.
From the Arabic root ح-ك-م (h-k-m, wisdom and sound judgment), on the pattern فَعِيل (fa'il), it denotes perfect wisdom in every decree and act.
The Name “The All-Wise” means: The One whose knowledge is perfect and whose every act is rightly ordered. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to seek right measure, consider consequences, and entrust to Allah whatever wisdom remains hidden. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
