📖 1 min readThe Almighty is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The Invincible One whose might can never be overcome.
To pronounce the name The Almighty in Arabic, we say: Al-'Aziz.
It is written in Arabic: العزيز.
From the Arabic root ع-ز-ز ('-z-z, might and invincibility), on the pattern فَعِيل (fa'il), it denotes one unsurpassed and impossible to overcome.
The Name “The Almighty” means: The Invincible One whose might can never be overcome. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to renounce pride, struggle against the passions, and trust Allah's power rather than personal means. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
