To pronounce the name The Giver of Life in Arabic, we say: Al-Muhyi.
It is written in Arabic: المحيي.
From the Arabic root ح-ي-ي (h-y-y, life), مُحْيِي (muhyi) is the Form IV active participle, the one who gives and restores life.
The Name “The Giver of Life” means: The One who creates life and gives life to bodies and hearts. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to revive the heart through faith and good works, prepare for resurrection, and spend life in obedience. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
