📖 1 min readThe Perfect Judge is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One whose judgment is decisive and perfectly true.
To pronounce the name The Perfect Judge in Arabic, we say: Al-Hakam.
It is written in Arabic: الحكم.
From the Arabic root ح-ك-م (h-k-m, judgment and restraint), حَكَم (hakam) follows فَعَل and denotes the final judge whose ruling cannot be overturned.
The Name “The Perfect Judge” means: The One whose judgment is decisive and perfectly true. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to act fairly, restore rights, and begin by judging one's own conduct honestly. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
