He is the master of the youth of the people of Paradise, and the basil of the Prophet ﷺ and his likeness. the Prophet ﷺ called him Al-Hassan. He performed an aqeeq on his behalf on the seventh day, shaved his hair, and ordered him to give the weight of his hair in silver in charity. He was the fifth person to wear clothing. Abu Ahmad Al-Askari said: the Prophet ﷺ called him Al-Hasan. He nicknamed him Abu Muhammad. He did not know this name in pre-Islamic times.
He narrated on the authority of Ibn Al-A'rabi, on the authority of Al-Mufaddal, who said: Allah withheld the names of Al-Hasan and Al-Hussein until the Prophet ﷺ named his sons Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein with them. He said: So I said to him: So the ones in Yemen? He said: That is Hasan Sakin al-Sayn, and Hussein with the opening of the ha and the kasra of the sīn, and only the name of Ramla in the land of Dhabah is known before them. Ibn Anama (1) said: The morning after, he set off on the road to Hasan, and then Bastam ibn Qays al-Shaybani was killed.
Abu Ahmad Abd al-Wahhab bin Ali bin Ali al-Amin told us, Abu al-Fadl Muhammad bin Nasser told us, Abu Tahir bin Abi al-Saqr al-Anbari told us, Abu al-Barakat Ahmad bin Abdul Wahid bin Nazif told us, al-Hasan bin Raseeq told us, Abu Bishr al-Dulabi told us, he said: I heard Abu Bakr bin Abdul Rahim al-Zuhri say: Al-Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Talib and his mother Fatima, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, were born in the middle of Ramadan in the year three of Hijra. He died in Medina in the year forty-nine; according to another report, He was born in the middle of Shaban in the year three; in another account, He was born a year after Uhud; some reports state instead: two years, and there were two years and six and a half months between Uhud and the Hijra. Reported by Al-Dulabi said: Al-Hasan bin Ali bin Affan, on the authority of Qaboos bin Al-Makhariq, who said: Umm Al-Fadl said: O Messenger of Allah, I saw as if one of your organs was in my house.
He said: Well, I saw, Fatima gives birth to a boy and she breastfeeds him with Qutham's milk, so she gave birth to Al-Hasan and breastfed him with Qutham's milk, Ali bin Abi Talib said. ﵁: When Al-Hassan was born, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, came and said: "Show me my son. What have you named him?" I said: I named him Harb. He said: Yes, he is Hassan. When Al-Hussein was born, we named him Harb. Then the Prophet ﷺ came and said: Show me my son. What did you name him? I said: I named him Harb. He said: Rather, he is Hussein. When the third was born, the Prophet ﷺ came and said: Show me my son. What have you named him? I said: I called him Harb. He said: Rather, he is a Muhsin. Then he said: I named them after the names of Aaron's sons: Shubar, Shubayr, and Mushabbar.
Aisha, Al-Sha'bi, Suwayd bin Ghafla, Shaqiq bin Salamah, Hubayra bin Yarim, Al-Musayyab bin Najaba, Al-Asba' bin Nabatah, Abu Al-Hawra', Muawiyah bin Hudayj, Ishaq bin Bashar, Muhammad bin Sirin, and others narrated from him. Reported by Abu Jaafar Ahmad bin Ali and more than one person, on the authority of Abu Al-Hawra', who said: Al-Hasan bin Ali said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, taught me words to say in the Witr prayer: O Allah, guide me among whom You have guided, and grant me good health among those whom You have guided. May you be well, and take care of me among those whom you have taken over, and bless me in what you have given, and protect me from the evil of what you have decreed, for you decree and no decree will be decreed against you. He will not be humiliated by whom you have appointed. Blessed be our Lord and Most High.
Reported by Abu Ahmad Abd al-Wahhab bin Sakina, on the authority of Abu Al-Hawra', who said: I said to Al-Hasan bin Ali: What do you remember from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: I remember from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I took a date from the charity dates, then left it in my mouth. He removed it with saliva and put it in the charity dates. Then he accepted: O Messenger of Allah, what was your duty with this date? He said: We are the family of Muhammad, and it is not permissible for us to give charity. He used to say: Leave what doubts you for what does not doubt you, for honesty is reassurance, and lying is doubt. He used to teach us this supplication.. He mentioned the hadith of Qunoot.
Reported by Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Abdul Qahir, on the authority of Umayr bin Mamoun, who said: I heard Al-Hasan bin Ali say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say: "Whoever prays the morning prayer So he sat in his prayer place until the sun rose. He had a veil from the fire, or he said: a veil from the fire. Reported by Omar bin Muhammad bin Tabarzad, on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah: Al-Hasan and Al-Hussein are the masters of the youth of the people of Paradise, except for my maternal aunt: Isa and Yahya bin Zakariya, peace be upon him. Reported by Ismail bin Ubaid Allah and others, on the authority of Abdullah bin Abi Bakr bin Zaid bin Al-Muhajir, who said: Muslim bin Abi Sahl (2) told me Al-Nabal, Al-Hasan bin Osama bin Zaid told me, he said: Abi Usama bin Zaid told me, he said: I knocked. One night, the Prophet ﷺ was in need.
He came out to me holding something. I did not know what it was. When I finished my need, I said: What is this that you are holding? So he revealed it and saw Hasan and Hussein on his hips, and said: These are my sons and my daughter's sons. Oh Allah, I love them, so love them, and love those who love them. Reported by Muhammad bin Issa, on the authority of Abu Bakra, who said: the Prophet ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said: This son of mine is a master, through whom Allah will reconcile two great groups.
He said: Muhammad told us, Al-Hussein bin Harith told us, Ali bin Al-Hussein bin Waqid told us, my father told me, Abdullah bin Buraida told me, he said: I heard my father Buraida say: the Prophet ﷺ was addressing us when Al-Hasan and Al-Hussein came, wearing red shirts, walking and stumbling, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, came down from the pulpit, picked them up and placed them in his hands, then said: Allah has spoken the truth. "Indeed, your wealth and your children are a test" (1) I looked at these two boys walking and stumbling. I could not be patient until I interrupted my speech and picked them up. Reported by Muhammad, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, who said: He was not more like the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, than Al-Hasan bin Ali.
Reported by Muhammad, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was carrying Hassan on his shoulders, and a man said: What a good ride you have ridden, boy, and the Prophet ﷺ said: And what a good ride he is. Reported by " Abu Al-Faraj bin Abi Al-Raja' Al-Thaqafi, on the authority of Al-Bara', who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, placing Al-Hasan bin Ali on his shoulder. He was saying: Oh Allah, I love him, so love him. Reported by Muhammad bin Isa, on the authority of Omar bin Abi Salamah, who said: This verse was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ: "Indeed, Allah only desires to remove uncleanness from you, O People of the House." And purify you with a thorough purification (2) In the house of Umm Salamah, the Prophet ﷺ called Fatima, Hassan, and Husayn, and clothed them, with Ali behind his back.
Then he said: These are my family, so remove uncleanness from them and purify them with a thorough purification. Umm Salamah said: And I am with them, O Messenger of Allah? He said: You are where you are, you are doing well. Reported by Muhammad said: Ali ibn al-Mundhir al-Kufi, on the authority of Zaid ibn Arqam, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: I am leaving among you what if you cling to it you will not go astray. One of them is greater than the other: The Book of Allah is a rope stretched from heaven to earth, and my family, the people of my household. They will not be separated until They return to the basin, so see how you leave me behind them. Reported by " He said: Muhammad, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: Love Allah for what He nourishes you with His blessings, and love me with the love of Allah, and love my household with my love.
Another report states: Al-Hassan bin Ali performed several Hajj on foot. He used to say: I am ashamed before my Lord to meet him and I did not walk to his house. And Allah Almighty divided his wealth three times, so he left a shoe and took a shoe. He left all of his wealth twice. the Prophet ﷺ said: "A good tribe among the tribes (4)" and he was gentle, generous, and pious. His piety and virtue led him to leave the kingdom and the world, out of a desire for what was with Allah Almighty. He used to say: I would not have liked to take over the affairs of the nation of Muhammad, peace be upon him, than to have a cupful of blood spilled in that case. He was one of the first to support Uthman bin Affan. He assumed the caliphate after the killing of his father Ali, peace be upon him.
Ali was killed for the thirteen days remaining of Ramadan in the year forty, and more than forty thousand pledged allegiance to him, who had pledged allegiance to his father on death, and were more obedient to Al-Hasan and loved him. He remained for about seven months as Caliph in Iraq, and behind it in Khurasan, the Hijaz, Yemen, and other things. Then Muawiyah marched to him from the Levant. He walked to Muawiyah. When they approached, he knew that one of the two sects would not prevail until most of the other was killed, so he sent to Muawiyah offering to hand over the command to him, on the condition that he would have the caliphate after him, and that he would not ask anyone from the people of Medina, Hijaz, and Iraq for anything that had happened in his father's days, and other rules. Muawiyah responded to what he asked for, and it appeared.
The prophet ﷺic miracle, and he, peace be upon him, says: This son of mine is a master, through whom Allah will reconcile two groups of Muslims. What honor is greater than the honor of the one whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, called Sayyid? Abu Muhammad al-Qasim bin Ali bin al-Hasan al-Dimashqi told us, Ijaza, my father told us, Abu al-Saud told us, Ahmad bin Muhammad bin al-Majli told us, Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Akbari told us, Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Khaqan told us, Abu Bakr ibn Duraid told us, he said: Al-Hasan rose up after the death of his father, the Commander of the Faithful, and said after praising Allah: By Allah, neither doubt nor remorse prevented us from the people of the Levant.
Rather, we fought the people of the Levant with safety and patience, but safety was taken away by enmity, and patience was taken away by fear, and you were in your assignment to Siffin and your religion was before your world, so you became Today, your world is before your religion. Indeed, we are yours as we were, and you are not ours as you were. Indeed, you are now between two dead people: a person killed in Siffin for whom you cry, and a person killed in Nahrawan whose revenge you seek. As for the rest, they are weak, and as for the weeping, they rebel. Indeed, Muawiyah called us to a matter in which there is neither glory nor justice, so if you want death, we will return him to him, and we will judge him before Allah. (1) Swords, and if you want life, we will accept it and grant you satisfaction. Then the people called out to him from all sides: "The Remnant, the Remnant," and when they sent him away, he concluded the peace.
Reported by " Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Mihran Al-Faqih and more than one person, on the authority of Yusuf bin Saad, who said: A man came up to Al-Hasan bin Ali after he pledged allegiance to Muawiyah, and said: You have blackened the faces of the believers, or: Oh, you have blackened the faces of the believers. So he said: Do not scold me, may Allah have mercy on you, for the Prophet ﷺ saw the Umayyads on his pulpit, and that upset him, so I revealed: "Indeed, We sent it down on the Night of Decree, and what Achieve what is the Night of Decree, the Night of Decree is better than a thousand months (3) It was owned by the Banu Umayyads after me. There was disagreement about the time in which Al-Hasan handed over the command to Muawiyah.
Some reports state: in the middle of Jumada Al-Awwal in the year forty-one; according to another report, for the remaining five days of Rabi' Al-Awwal; in another account, in Rabi' Al-Akhir, so his caliphate in this case would be six months and twelve days, and according to the saying of those who say: in the spring of Al-Awwal, his caliphate would be six months and something, and according to the saying of those who say: in Jumada Al-Awwal, about eight months, and Allah knows best. The saying of those who said: "The command was handed over in the year forty-one" is more correct than what was said about it, but as for those who said: In the year forty-one, they are delusional. When Al-Hasan pledged allegiance to Muawiyah, he addressed the people before Muawiyah entered Kufa and said: O people, we are your princes and your guests, and we are the family of your Prophet from whom Allah has removed impurity and purified them with a thorough purification.
He repeated this until all that remained were those who cried until they heard his sobbing. When Muawiyah entered Kufa and the people pledged allegiance to him, Amr bin Al-Aas said to Muawiyah: Order Al-Hasan to deliver the sermon, so he said: We have no need for that, so Amr said: But I want that to show his weakness (1), for he does not know these matters, so Muawiyah said to him: Get up, O Hassan, and talk to the people about what happened between us, so Al-Hasan got up in a matter that has not been narrated, so he praised and praised Allah. He then said in his intuition: As for what follows, O people, May Allah guide you with the first of us, and spare your blood with the last of us.
Indeed, the wisest one is pious, and the most incapable is immorality, and this is the matter about which Muawiyah and I disagreed: either he has more right to it than me, or my right is left to Allah, and to reform the nation of Muhammad, peace be upon him, and spare your blood. Then he turned to Muawiyah and said: "And if I know, perhaps it may be." It is a trial for you and an enjoyment for a while" (2). So Muawiyah ordered him to come down, and said (3) to Amr: I only wanted this. The time of his death differed; some reports state instead: He died in the year forty-nine; according to another report, in the year fifty; in another account, in the year fifty-one. He was dyed with the mark (4). The cause of his death was that his wife, Ja`dah bint al-Ash`ath ibn Qais, gave him poison to drink. A basin was placed under him and another was removed for about forty days. He died from it.
When his illness became severe, he said to his brother al-Hussein, peace be upon him: O brother, I was given poison to drink three times. I have never been given poison like this. I would lose my liver. Al-Hussein said: Who gave you a drink, my brother? He said: What is your question about this? Do you want to fight them? Leave them to Allah. When death approached him, he sent to Aisha asking her to be buried with the Prophet ﷺ. She responded to that, so he said to his brother: If I die, ask Aisha to be buried with the Prophet ﷺ. I had asked her and she responded to that. Perhaps she would be ashamed of me. If she gives permission, bury me in her house. I do not think that the people, meaning the Umayyads, will prevent you. If they do, do not go back on that, but bury me in Baqi'. Gharqad (5)
