Biography of Ikrima ibn Abi Jahl

Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl bin Hisham bin Al-Mughirah bin Abdullah bin Omar bin Makhzum Al-Qurashi Al-Makhzoumi. His mother is Umm Mujalid, one of the women of Banu Hilal bin Amer, and Abi Jahl's name is Amr, and his kunya was Abu Al-Hakam, but The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Muslims nicknamed him Abu Jahl, so he remained with him and forgot his name and nickname, and Ikrimah's nickname was Abu Othman. He converted to Islam shortly after the conquest. He was very hostile to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in pre-Islamic times. Whoever resembles his father is not unjust! He was a famous knight, and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, conquered Mecca, he fled from it and joined Yemen. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, marched to Mecca, he ordered the killing of Ikrimah. He fled with him.

Reported by Abu al-Fadl al-Faqih al-Makhzoumi, on the authority of his father, who said: On the day of the conquest of Mecca the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, secured the people's security, except for four men and two women, and said: "Kill them, even if you find them clinging to the curtains of the Kaaba: Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl, Abdullah bin Khatal, Miqis bin Sababa, and Abdullah bin Saad bin Abi Sarh." As for Ibn Khatal Then he caught up while he was clinging to the curtains of the Kaaba, so Sa`id ibn Harith and Ammar ibn Yasir raced to him, so Sa`id preceded Ammar. He was proven He killed the two men, and as for Muqays ibn Subaba, people overtook him in the market and killed him, and as for Ikrimah, he rode the sea and killed them. It was stormy, so the owners of the ship said to the people of the ship: Be sincere, for your gods are of no use to you here. So Ikrimah said: If he does not save me in sea except sincerity.

Nothing else saves me on land. Oh Allah, You have a covenant with me, if You spare me from what I am in, so that I may come to Muhammad so that I may put my hand in His hand, I find him pardoning and generous. He said: Then he came and converted to Islam. As for Abdullah bin Saad, he disappeared with Uthman bin Affan, so when he called the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, urged the people to pledge allegiance. He brought him until he presented him to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, pledge allegiance to Abdullah, so he raised He raised his head and looked at it, so he did that three times, then pledged allegiance to him after the three. He then went to his companions and said: "Is there not among you a sensible man who will stand up?

Until this time, when he saw me, I withheld my hand from pledging allegiance to him, so he killed him." And Another report states: "His wife, Umm Hakim, was the daughter of his paternal uncle Al-Harith bin Hisham. To him, while he was in Yemen in the safety of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She had converted to Islam before him on the day of the conquest, so she returned it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He converted to Islam. His Islam was good. He was one of the good Muslims. When he returned, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, stood up to him, embraced him, and said: Welcome to the immigrant passenger. When he converted to Islam, the Muslims were saying: This is the son of The enemy of Allah is Abu Jahl! This upset him, so he complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. the Prophet ﷺ said to his companions: "Do not curse his father, for cursing the dead harms the living," and he forbade them.

That they say: Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl, O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, for how good, great, and honorable this creation is. And when Ikrimah embraced Islam, he said: O Messenger of Allah, I will not let go of the money I spent on you unless I spent in the cause of Allah an equal amount of it, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed him to collect the alms of Hawazin during the pilgrimage season. Reported by Ibrahim bin Muhammad and more than one person, on the authority of Abu Issa al-Tirmidhi, who said: Musa bin Masoud told us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Musab bin Saad, on the authority of Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl, he said: He said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said on the day I came to him: "Welcome to the immigrant rider." He had a great impact in fighting the people of apostasy.

Abu Bakr, peace be upon him, appointed him to command an army and sent him against the people of Oman after they apostatized. He defeated them, then Abu Bakr directed him. Bakr also went to Yemen. When he finished fighting the people of apostasy, he walked to the Levant, fighting during the days of Abu Bakr with the Muslim armies. When they camped in Al-Jurf, two miles from Medina, Abu Bakr went out to walk around their camp. He saw a great tent surrounded by eight horses, spears, and visible equipment. He reached it, and behold, Ikrimah's tent, so he greeted. Abu Bakr rewarded him well and offered him aid. He said: I have no need for it, I have two thousand dinars. So he prayed for his well-being, so he went to the Levant and was martyred by Ajnadin. Some reports state: the Battle of Yarmouk; according to another report, The Day of Zero.

Reported by several transmitters, on the authority of his father, who said: Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl said on that day, meaning the Battle of Yarmouk: "I fought the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in every place. I am fleeing from you today. Then he called: Who will pledge allegiance to me on death? So his uncle Al-Harith bin Hisham and Dirar bin Al-Azwar pledged allegiance to him with four hundred Muslim leaders and their knights. They fought in front of Fustat. Khaled, until they all proved wounded and were killed except Dirar ibn al-Azwar. Reported by " They said: Abu al-Qasim also, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, who said: And Ibn Samaan also told me, On the authority of Al-Zuhri, "Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl on that day, meaning the day of Fahal, was the most afflicted of people. He used to ride on spears until they injured his chest and face, while another report states to him: Fear Allah, and be kind to yourself.

He said: I was struggling with myself on behalf of Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, so I will give it to them. Shall I draw it now? On the authority of Allah and His Messenger! No, by Allah, never. They said: He only increased in boldness
