Biography of Suhayb ar-Rumi

Suhaib bin Sinan Suhaib bin Sinan bin Malik bin Abd Amr bin Aqeel bin Amer bin Jandala bin Judhaymah bin Kaab bin Saad bin Aslam bin Aws Manat bin Al-Nimr bin Qasit bin Hanab bin Afsa bin Du'ami bin Jadila bin Asad bin Rabia bin Nizar, Al-Rab'i Al-Nimari. This is also the lineage of Al-Kalbi and Abu Naim. Al-Waqidi said: Suhaib bin Sinan bin Khalid bin Abd Amr bin Aqeel bin Kaab bin Saad. Ibn Ishaq said: Suhaib bin Sinan bin Khalid bin Abd Amr bin Tufail bin Amer bin Jandalah bin Saad bin Khuzaymah bin Kaab bin Saad; So he made Tufayl instead of Aqeel, and made Khuzaymah instead of Jadhimah. He is a descendant of Al-Nimr bin Qasit. His mother is Salma bint Qaid bin Muhais bin Khuza'i bin Mazen bin Malik bin Amr bin Tamim. his kunya was Abu Yahya, the nickname of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Rather, it was said to him: Al-Rumi, because the Romans took him captive when he was young. His father and his uncle were Chosroes' servants on Al-Ubla, and their homes were on the Tigris near Mosul; according to another report, They were on the Euphrates in the land of the peninsula, so the Romans raided them, so they took Suhayb when he was young. He grew up with the Romans, and became an alkun, so she bought him from them as a dog, then they brought him to Mecca, and Abdullah bin Judaan bought him. Al-Taymi was one of them, so he freed him. He lived with him until Abdullah bin Jadaan died. Suhaib's family, his son, and Musab al-Zubairi said: He fled from the Romans when he grew up and became wise, so he came to Mecca and made an alliance with Ibn Jud'an, and lived with him until he died. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was sent, he converted to Islam and was one of the first to convert to Islam.

Al-Waqidi said: Suhaib and Ammar converted to Islam in one day, and their conversion to Islam occurred after thirty-few men. He was one of the oppressed people in Mecca who were tortured. Abu Mansour bin Makarim bin Ahmed bin Saad told us with his chain of transmission from Abu Zakaria Yazid bin Iyas, who said: Abdullah bin Jud'an, meaning Suhaib, had bought him from a dog in Mecca. It was a dog she had bought from the Romans, so he freed him, and Suhaib and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, converted to Islam in Dar al-Arqam after thirty-odd men. He was one of the oppressed people in Mecca who were being punished for the sake of Allah. He came among the last people to migrate to Medina, Ali Ibn Abi. Talib and Suhaib, and that was in the middle of Rabi' al-Awwal, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, had not yet stoned Quba'.

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, made a brotherhood between him and Al-Harith bin Al-Sammah, and when Suhayb migrated to Medina, a group of polytheists followed him, so he shrugged his shoulders and said to them: O people of Quraysh, you know that I am the one who shot you, and by Allah, you will not reach me until I shoot you with every arrow I have, and then I strike you with my sword whatever remains in my hand, so if you want my money, I will guide you to it. They said: Show us your money and we will abandon you, so they agreed to that, so he showed them to it. He joined the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said to him: Abu Yahya won the sale, so Allah, revealed: "And among the people is he who sells himself seeking the pleasure of Allah, and by Allah Compassionate towards servants. Suhaib witnessed Badr, Uhud, the Trench, and all the other scenes with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Reported by Abu Mansour bin Makarim, on the authority of Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: (The racers are four: I am the racer of the Arabs, Suhaib is the racer of the Romans, Salman is the racer of the Persians, and Bilal is the racer of the Ethiopians). Reported by Abu Zakaria, on the authority of Mujahid, who said: The first to demonstrate his Islam were seven: the Prophet ﷺ Abu Bakr, Bilal, Suhaib, and Khabbab. And Ammar bin Yasser, and Sumayyah Umm Ammar, peace be upon him, all of them. As for the Prophet ﷺ Allah prevented him, and as for Abu Bakr, his people prevented him, and as for the others, they were taken and put on iron armor, then melted in the sun. Abu Jaafar Al-Mubarak bin Al-Mubarak bin Ahmad bin Raziq Al-Wasiti, the imam of the mosque, told us about it.

Abu Al-Saadat Al-Mubarak bin Al-Hussein bin Abdul-Wahhab bin Baouba told us, Abu Al-Fath Nasr bin Al-Hassan bin Abi Al-Qasim Al-Shashi told you, so he acknowledged it. Reported by I told him: Abu Bakr bin Mansur bin Khalaf Al-Muqri, on the authority of Suhaib, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: (When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, and the people of Hell enter Hell, a caller will call out: O people of Paradise, you have an appointment with Allah, that He wants you to fulfill. They say: What is it, pain? He makes our scales heavy, makes our faces white, and brings us into Paradise and takes us out of Hell.

Then He reveals for them the veil. They look at Allah, so nothing they have been given is more beloved to them than looking at Him, which is the increase.) Ibn Umar narrated on his authority that he said: I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while he was praying, so I greeted him. He responded by pointing with his finger. Reported by Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Mahran Al-Faqih and others, on the authority of Suhaib, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: (He does not believe in the Qur'an who makes his mahrams permissible). Along with his virtue and high rank, he had gentleness and good manners. It was narrated that he said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was staying in Quba. They had dates and dates in front of them, while I was white-haired. So I ate, and the Prophet ﷺ said: (Do you eat dates when you are white-haired?) I said: I only eat on the side of my right eye.

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, laughed until his molars became visible.
