Biography of Usamah ibn Sharik

d b ': Usamah ibn Sharik al-Tha'labi from Banu Tha'laba ibn Yarb'u, as stated by Abu Nu'aym, while Abu 'Umar said: from Banu Tha'laba ibn Sa'd, and it is also said: from Tha'laba ibn Bakr ibn Wail, and Ibn Manda said: al-Dhabiyani al-Ghathfani, one of Banu Tha'laba ibn Bakr, counted among the people of Kufa.

We were informed by Abu al-Fadl al-Khatib, with his chain of narration to Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi, who said: I was told by Shuba and al-Mas'udi, from Ziyad ibn 'Alaqah, who said: I heard Usamah ibn Sharik, saying: I came to the Prophet ﷺ while his Companions were like birds on their heads, then the Bedouins came from the sides asking him about things that were not problematic, so they said: O Messenger of Allah, is there any harm for us in such and such? Is there any harm for us in such and such? So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O servants of Allah, Allah has removed hardship, or he said: Allah has raised hardship except for whoever borrows something wrongfully, for that is the one who is troubled and perishes, and it was narrated: except for whoever borrows from his brother's property, for that is the one who is troubled. They also asked him about medicine, so he said: O servants of Allah, take medicine, for Allah has not placed a disease except that He has placed a cure for it, except old age. He was asked: What is the best thing that a man can be given? He said: Good character.

Narrated also by al-A'mash, al-Thawri, and Mis'ar.
