Definition Ahl al-ḥq

Ahl al-ḥq according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

The people who have attached themselves to what is the truth with their Lord, by proofs and demonstrations; meaning the people of the Sunna and the Community.

Ahl al-ḥq according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

In al-Nasafi's Aqa'id: the people of truth hold that the realities of things are fixed and knowledge of them actual, contrary to the sophists and so on. The author of the Khayalat al-Latif said: the apparent is that the statement denotes the whole book to its end. Know that the upshot of his words is that the statement is either general, that is, the whole of that book, in which case the people of truth are its particulars, namely the people of the Sunna and the Community; or particular.

Ahl al-ḥq according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Among the Hanafis: the people who attached themselves to what is the truth with their Lord by proofs and demonstrations; meaning the people of the Sunna and the Community.
