Definition Akhr

Akhr according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The thing: to place it after its position. Al-akhar: one of two things, both of one kind. Meaning 'other': one says 'another man', 'another garment'. Al-akhir: the opposite of the first. One of God Most High's names: the One abiding after the annihilation of His creation, the eternal without beginning or end; in the Qur'an: 'He is the First and the Last' (al-Hadid, 3).

Akhr according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

The example (al-mithal) is what is obtained within perception from the realities of sensible things, becoming subtler than the sensible thing, thereby presenting a meaning like the intelligible meaning; the more manifest of the two serves as an example for the subtler.
