What is not exclusive to one division of the divisions of the existent, which are the necessary, the substance and the accident: either it embraces the three divisions, like existence and unity, real or considered, for every existent, even if multiple, possesses a unity in some respect; or like the quiddity and the subsistence, according to the one who holds that the Necessary has a quiddity distinct from His existence and a subsistence distinct from His quiddity; or it embraces two of those divisions, like proper possibility, contingency (huduth), necessity through another, multiplicity and causedness, which are shared between substance and accident. Accordingly, non-existence, impossibility, essential necessity and eternity do not belong to the general notions, and their examination proceeds by way of dependence.
