Al-aslwb al-ḥakiym according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

It is the presentation of what is more important, implicitly pointing out the speaker's neglect of what is more important, just as Al-Khiḍr upon him be peace said when Mūsā greeted him, rejecting his greeting because the greeting was not customary in that land, by saying: indeed, in your land the greeting [is not like this]; and Mūsā upon him be peace said in his reply: I am Mūsā, answering with what is appropriate, which is that you should inquire about me and not about my greeting in my land.

Al-aslwb al-ḥakiym according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

Addressing the interlocutor with other than what they anticipate, and answering the questioner with other than what they request.
