📖 2 min readThe resident of the badiya (the desert or steppe). In the noble hadith: "A town resident must not sell for a nomad." The town resident is the one who lives in cities and villages. What is forbidden is for the nomad to come to town with provisions, seeking to quickly sell them cheaply, and the town resident says: "Leave them with me so that I may overprice them." This action is unlawful because of the harm it causes to others, and the sale, if conducted with such overpricing, is nevertheless concluded. This applies if the commodity is of general need, such as foodstuffs; but if it is not, or if provisions are abundant and one is independent of them, then there is hesitation regarding the prohibition, relying in one view on the general apparent meaning of the prohibition and the prevention of harm, and in the second on the meaning of harm and its cessation. It has been reported from Ibn Abbas that he was asked about the meaning of this hadith and said: "Let him not be a broker for him." Al-badawah: nomadic life. Thaghalab said: "I do not know badawah with a fathah except from Abu Zayd alone." Al-bidawah: the opposite of civilization. Allah created the creation - bringing them into existence: He created them. And in the Noble Quran: ﴿No misfortune happens on earth or in yourselves but is recorded in a Book before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allah﴾. (Al-Hadid: 22). He is therefore the Creator (Exalted is He).
