Al-bdyhy according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

It is knowledge whose attainment does not depend on examination and acquisition, such as conceiving heat and assenting that fire is hot. Further, evident assent: if conceiving its two terms suffices for asserting it, it is evident a fortiori, like assent that the whole is greater than the part; if it does not suffice, but something other than examination and acquisition is needed, such as intuition, experience, and sensation, it is still self-evident.

Al-bdyhy according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

That whose attainment does not depend on examination and acquisition, whether it needs something else, such as intuition or experience, or not: it is then synonymous with the necessary (daruri). It may also mean what needs nothing after the mind's being directed to it: it is then more specific than the necessary, such as conceiving heat and cold, and assenting that negation and affirmation neither combine nor vanish together.
