📖 2 min readIt is the contracting party (the dhimmi) who was granted a covenant ('ahd) by which his wealth, his person and his religion are secured; its feminine form is dhimmiyya. Al-madhamma: that for which one is blamed, and it is the opposite of al-muhammada. Also: adh-dhimam.
Al-madhimmah: adh-dhimam. Dhanaba-hu dhanban: his sin caught up with him. Also: he tracked him without losing his trail; it is said: the clouds trail one another (yadhnubu ba'duhu ba'dan).
Adhnaba: he committed a sin. Adh-dhanab: the animal's tail, (pl.) adhnab and dhanab; and, of anything: its end. Adh-dhanb: the sin, (pl.) dhunub, and in the Magnificent Book: (Quran 39:53: "Say: O My servants who have transgressed against their own souls, do not despair of Allah's mercy: Allah forgives all sins.
He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful."); in the saying of al-Jurjani: that which veils you from Allah. Adh-dhanub: the allotted share. Also: the bucket filled with water; it is used both as feminine and as masculine.
