Definition Al-ghaal-iyaa

Al-ghaal-iyaa according to An-Nihaya (Ibn al-Athir)

A kind of perfume compounded of musk, ambergris, aloeswood and oil, well known; and anointing oneself with it is the fragrant smearing.

Al-ghaal-iyaa according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

A kind of perfume compounded of musk, ambergris, aloeswood and oil, well known; Ibn al-Athir said: the first to so name it was Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik; one says of it: 'I perfumed myself with the ghaliya'. (An-Nihaya, 3/383; al-Matla', pp. 245, 246).
