The effect of witnessing the majesty of Allah in the heart, and it may stem from the beauty which is the beauty of majesty (Ibn Arabi's Ta'rifat p. 278). Awe (hayba) and spiritual intimacy (uns) are two states above constriction (qabd) and expansion (bast), just as constriction and expansion are above fear (khawf) and hope (raja'). The requirement of awe is occultation (ghayba), and the requirement of spiritual intimacy is sobriety and awakening (al-ta'rifat p. 278).
