Al-kfaf according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

What is to the measure of need, without surplus, and suffices to dispense from begging.

Al-kfaf according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

What is to the measure of need, without increase; it was called 'kafaf' because it dispenses (yakfi) from begging and prevents it.

Al-kfaf according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

'Of sustenance': to suffice people, enrich. In the noble hadith: 'Successful is he who embraced Islam and received sufficient provision (kafafan), and whom Allah made content with what He gave him'. 'Al-kaff': the space between the fingers (feminine); plurals: kufuf and akuff. In the Quran: 'And his fruits were encompassed, so he began to turn his palms about what he had spent on it, while it was all collapsed upon its trellises, and he said: Would that I had not associated with my Lord anyone' (al-Kahf 42); it is an allusion to regret and mourning.

Al-kfaf according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

What is to the measure of need, without surplus, and suffices to dispense from begging.
