Definition Al-kwkb

Al-kwkb according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

In Qur'anic usage it embraces the cold celestial body drawing its light from another, and embraces the blazing star; but modern astronomy restricts kawkab (planet) to the first and calls the second najm (star). (Al-Qamus al-Qawim li-l-Qur'an al-Karim 2/177.)
