Al-mdahna according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is seeing a wrong, being able to prevent it and not preventing it: to spare the wrongdoer or another, or out of little concern for religion.

Al-mdahna according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Seeing an unlawful wrong, having power to prevent it and not preventing it: to spare its doer or another, or out of little care for religion.
