Al-msamḥa according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

Leaving what is due, out of scrupulous purity.

Al-msamḥa according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

From tasamuh: 'ask for it yonder'; it is said: leaving what is due, in secret.

Al-msamḥa according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Samiha with such a thing, yasmahu, samahan, samahan and samaha: to be easygoing, pliant, and consent to what is wanted of him; 'samahhahu his sin': forgave him; 'tasmah in such a thing', 'tasamah': be lenient. In religious law, in the Tawqif: musamaha is leaving what is not due, out of scrupulousness (al-Ifsah fi fiqh al-Lugha, 1/638; al-Tawqif, p. 653).
