Definition Al-nsyan

Al-nsyan according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is heedlessness of a known thing outside the state of drowsiness: it thus does not negate the obligation, that is, obligation itself, nor the duty to perform.

Al-nsyan according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

In language: shared between two senses: first, leaving a thing in bewilderment and heedlessness, opposite of remembering; second, deliberate leaving; hence God's saying: 'do not forget generosity between you.'

Al-nsyan according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

The diminution or nullifying of memory's power.

Al-nsyan according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Man's failing to retain what was entrusted to him: through weakness of heart, through heedlessness, or on purpose, until it is erased from the heart; mentioned by one of the usulis.
