Definition Al-qlm

Al-qlm according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

With sukun of the lam: ink; with fatha: the cutting: one says qalamtuhu, he cut it.

Al-qlm according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

What one writes with; plural aqlam; the instrument of writing and learning; the oath by it, in God's saying: 'Nun. By the Pen and what they inscribe', attests the glorification of knowledge and the scholars.

Al-qlm according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The stick and the like, qalama: to cut a piece from it. The qalam and the like: to trim its point. The nail and the like: to clip its overgrowth. Qallama: to clip repeatedly.

Al-qlm according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)
