Definition Al-shhyd

Al-shhyd according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

Every pure, adult Muslim killed unjustly, whose death entails no debt of money nor expiation of a fault.

Al-shhyd according to Al-Kulliyat (Al-Kafawi)

It is 'fa'il' in the sense of 'maf'ul'; he was so named because Paradise is attested for him by the text, or because the angels attest his death in his honor; or 'fa'il' in the sense of agent, because he is alive with Allah, exalted be He, present.
