With fatha and sukun of the lam: the opposite of affirmation, that is, taking away the whole attribution in the declarative sense. With fatha of the lam: the spoils of the slain man, comprising his person, his clothes, his weapons and what he has, as in the Prophet's words (may God's prayer and peace be upon him): 'if he kills a slain man, his spoils belong to him'; and what they mean by the section of acts, in logic, being negation: it is the negation of the agent with respect to the object of the action, as in 'ashkaytu-hu', that is, I did away with his complaint.
Of a thing, with salban: he seized it by force. And in the Quran: 'O people, a parable is struck, so listen to it: those you invoke besides God could never create a fly, though they gathered together for it; and if the fly snatched anything from them they could not rescue it from it; weak are the seeker and the sought' (Al-Hajj, 73). Of a person: to take his spoils and strip him of his clothes and weapons.

With haraka: what the Law permits taking from the slain man, his mount and what is on it of weapons, clothes, saddles, bridles and the like, excluding what he has with him of slave or other mount; with sukun of the lam: snatching a thing from another by coercion.
