The employment of judgment in a difficult act; it has been said: tadbir is the consideration of consequences together with knowledge of the good; and it has been said: the ordering of affairs with knowledge of their outcomes; this belongs truly (haqiqa) to God, and to the servant only metaphorically (majaz).
The manumission of the slave after him ('an dabr), that is, after his master's death; in another sense: the suspension of manumission upon death; in another: the consideration of the outcome of the matter.
In language: the consideration of the issue to which the matter leads. In religious law: the suspending of manumission upon death in any formula whatsoever, such as: 'if I die, you are free'. If, however, it is bound to a particular death, such as death by illness, or to the death of another man, it is not a tadbir.
In language: the consideration of the outcome of affairs so that they fall out in the most perfect manner; and a man's manumission of his slave after him (upon his dabr), saying: 'you are free after my death', for death is the dabr (rear) of life; the dabr of a thing is what comes after it, with sukun or damma of the ba'. As a technical term: a legally competent and rational person's suspending of the manumission of his slave upon his own death.
