Definition Al-thwaʾ

Al-thwaʾ according to Mufradat (Ar-Raghib)

Coming down in order to dwell: one says "he dwelt at the abode" (thawa bi-l-manzil) and "he settled another there" (athwahu ghayrahu).

Al-thwaʾ according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Dwelling with continuance; one says: "he dwelt in a place" (thawa bi-l-makan, yathwi thawyan), he is then a thawin; in the Quran: "I was not dwelling among the people of Madyan".

Al-thwaʾ according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Dwelling with continuance.
