Al-tklyf according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

Imposing the burden (kulfa) upon the one addressed.

Al-tklyf according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

In language: the masdar of kallafa in the sense of obliging; taklif is thus the imposing of what carries a burden, that is, hardship, and the takalif are hardships, as God Most High says: 'God does not burden a soul beyond its capacity'.
