The man's following another in what he says, by word or deed, believing its reality, without examination or reflection upon the sign; as if this follower had made the other's word or deed a necklace at his neck. Many scholars and all the jurists upheld the validity of the blind follower's (muqallid) faith and the attachment of rulings to him, in this world and the hereafter; the Shaykh Abu al-Hasan and the Mu'tazila, and many theologians, barred it; and the two parties' proofs are in the long works of the science of kalam.

Accepting another's word without demanding proof.
