Definition Al-wṣl

Al-wṣl according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

The annexing of one part of a sentence to another.

Al-wṣl according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

The completion and what completes it ending in one thing, or its like. The annexing of one part of a sentence to another. (Al-Tawqif, p. 727).

Al-wṣl according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

So-and-so with a thing, with waslan, wasilatan and waslatan: joining it to him, gathering it with him and tying it to him. One says: the woman joined her hair to another's hair. Of a person: the opposite of forsaking him; doing him good; giving him wealth. His kin: doing good to his nearest relatives of lineage and marriage, caring for them and attending to their circumstances. A thing, with ilayhi, wasulan, wasilatan and waslatan: reaching it and arriving at it. One says: he joined (wasala) to the sons of so-and-so: when he affiliated himself to them and traced descent to them.

Al-wṣl according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

The annexing of one part of a sentence to another by means of a conjunction letter, waw, ya, or ha, coming after a repetition letter without separation.

Al-wṣl according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

The completion and what completes it being one thing, or its like; and wasl is the annexing of one part of a sentence to another.

Al-wṣl according to Mu'jam Lughat al-Fuqaha

With fatha of the waw and sukun of the sad, masdar of wasala a thing with a thing: joining it to him and gathering it with him (junction). The wasl of a woman's hair: adding hair to it and joining it with it (connection, hair).
