Qnt according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

In the form qunutan: to obey Allah the Most High, submit to Him and acknowledge His claim of servitude. In the Quran: [al-Ahzab, 31: 'Whoever of you is devoutly obedient to Allah and His Messenger and does righteousness, We will give her her reward twice over.']. He is then qanit. (plural) qunat. She is qanita. To prolong the standing in prayer and supplication. To humble oneself before Him. The woman towards her husband: to obey him; she is then qanut. Al-qunut: obedience. Humility. The supplication; whence the qunut supplication: the supplication in prayer at a specified point of the standing. The standing in prayer. In the noble hadith: 'The best prayer is the one with the longest qunut'; the meaning is the length of the standing, by agreement of the scholars, as al-Nawawi said. Worship.
