Definition Syd albr

Syd albr according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

(See the root sad ya dal.) Al-burr (with damma): the wheat grain; its singular burra. Al-birr (with kasra): goodness; in the Qur'an: 'do you order the people goodness (al-birr) and forget yourselves, while you recite the Scripture? Do you not reason?' (al-Baqara, 44); beneficence; in the Qur'an: 'but goodness (al-birr) is he who fears' (al-Baqara, 189); hence birr of parents, opposite of undutifulness; the Garden. In the noble hadith: it is good character. At-tabarr: obedience and drawing near. With the Hanafis: game born on the land.
