Definition Tarji'a

Tarji'a according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Making the thing returning. Tarji’ in adhan: each of the two attestations first twice lowering voice, then each twice raising: each attestation four times, first twice low, second twice raised; a sounna by ach-Chafi’i. Hence he said adhan nineteen words, four words added by tarji’; our adhan fifteen words, no tarji’ among us.

Tarji'a according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

Establishing the two attestations secretly before voicing them.
