Hadiths on Virtues and Manners

Hasan Nothing is more honorable in the sight of Allah Almighty than supplication Authentic by Another chain of narrators Never does the son of Adam do any deed that can save him from Allah's punishment more than remembering Allah Authentic No people sit in a gathering in which they do not remember Allah and do not invoke blessings upon their Prophet, except that it will be a source of regret for them. If He wills, He will punish them, and if He wills, He will forgive them Authentic hadith Whoever exalts himself over others and walks with a swaggering gait (with pride), will meet Allah while He is angry with him Authentic Whoever protects the honor of his brother in his absence, Allah will protect his face from the Fire on the Day of Judgment Authentic Whoever says ‘subhān Allah wa bihamdih (glory be to Allah, and praise be to Him)’ one hundred times a day, his sins will be erased, even if they were as much as the foam of the sea Authentic Whoever says ten times Authentic When Allah intends good for someone, He grants him the understanding of the religion Good hadith Woe to him who speaks and tells lies so as to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him! Authentic by Another chain of narrators Allah, the Almighty, says: I am with My slave as long as he remembers Me and his lips move saying My Name Authentic Verily, Allah loves the servant who is pious, free of wants, and inconspicuous Authentic hadith If a Muslim visits his sick fellow Muslim, he will remain in the Khurfah of Paradise tills he leaves returns Authentic hadith The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was given something to drink, so he drank from it, and there was a boy on his right Authentic hadith None of you should wish for death. Either he is a doer of good, so he may do more good; or he is an evildoer, so he may give up evil deeds Authentic hadith I came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) while he was giving a sermon Authentic hadith That he passed by some boys, so he greeted them with Salām and said that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to do so Authentic hadith Whoever is presented with basil should not decline it. He said: All of it is left except its shoulder Good chain of narrators The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the foremost deed that leads people to Paradise, and he replied: Fear of Allah and good character. Then, he was asked about the most things that lead people into Hellfire, and he said: The tongue and the private parts Authentic Successful is the one who embraces Islam, is provided with mere subsistence, and Allah makes him content with what He has given him Authentic Indeed, many women have come to the family of Muhammad complaining about their husbands. Those (men) are not the best among you Authentic hadith All rights will be restored on the Day of Judgment, until even the hornless sheep will settle its score with the horned one Authentic I am not leaving behind a more harmful trial for men than women Authentic hadith The wealth of a man will not diminish by charity; Allah augments the honor of a man who endures an oppression patiently; and he who opens a gate of begging, Allah opens a gate of poverty Authentic hadith The example of a miser and a generous person is that of two men wearing two iron cloaks covering their breasts up to their collar bones Hasan Whoever among you wakes up in the morning healthy in his body, secure in his dwelling, and has his food for the day, it is as if the whole world has been given to him Authentic hadith By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if your state of mind remains the same as it is in my presence and you are always busy in Dhikr, the angels will shake hands with you in your beds and in your paths but, Hanzhalah, time and time Authentic hadith He who gives in charity the value of a date which was lawfully earned, and Allah only accepts that which has been lawfully earned, then Allah will accept it with His right hand and nurture it for him, just as one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain Authentic hadith The story of the death of Az-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwām (may Allah be pleased with him) and paying off his debt Authentic Make matters easy and do not make them difficult, and give people glad tidings and do not drive them away Authentic Allāhumma inni a‘ūdhu bika min al-‘ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhl, wal-harami wa ‘adhāb al-qabr. Allāhumma āti nafsi taqwāha, wa zakkiha anta khayru man zakkāha, anta waliyyuha wa mawlāha. Allāhumma inni a‘ūdhu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa‘, wa min qalbin la yakhsha‘, wa min nafsin la tashba‘, wa min da‘watin la yustajābu laha" (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from inability, indolence, cowardice, miserliness, decrepitude, and torment of the grave. O Allah, grant me the sense of piety and purify my soul as You are the Best to purify it. You are its Protector and its Guardian. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from knowledge that is not beneficial, from a heart that does not fear, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered) Authentic hadith Whenever the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went to his bed, he would blow into his hands, recite the Mu‘awwidhāt, and then pass his hands over his body Authentic hadith Praise be to Allah Who gave us food and drink, provided for us sufficiently, and gave us shelter, for how many there are who have no one to provide for them or to give them shelter Good hadith O Allah, I seek refuge in You from hunger, for it is an evil bed-fellow, and I seek refuge in You from treachery, for it is an evil hidden trait Hasan Say: Allāhumma ikfini bihalālika ‘an harāmik waghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwāk (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful against what You have made unlawful, and make me with Your bounty in no need of anyone besides You) Authentic The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) liked comprehensive supplications and would leave aside anything else Authentic hadith While a man was walking, dressed in fine clothes and admiring himself, with his hair well-combed Good hadith There are three supplications that will undoubtedly be answered: the supplication of the oppressed Authentic hadith On the Day of Resurrection, there will be three categories of people whom Allah will not speak to, purify, or look at Authentic hadith A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am weary Authentic hadith O Abu al-Hasan, how is the Messenger of Allah this morning? He said: He is feeling better this morning, by the grace of Allah Authentic hadith O Allah, I seek refuge with You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, senility, and miserliness. And I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave. And I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death
