Definition of Frʿ
Far' ash-shajar refers to the branch of a tree, and its plural is furū'.
The Almighty says: 'Its root is firm and its branches are in the sky' (Ibrahim 24).
Al-far' refers to what is built upon something else, in contrast to the origin (aṣl).
Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky?
