Definition of Jdth

Allah says: 'The Day they will emerge from the graves (al-ajdâth) hastily' (Al-Ma'ârij: 43).

Al-ajdâth is the plural of 'jadath' (the grave).

This term refers to the tombs from which the dead will resurrect on the Last Day.

And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.

﴿خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,

﴿يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.
