Definition of Ḥyz

Allah says: 'Or retreating (mutahayyizan) to a group' (Al-Anfâl: 16).

That is: becoming in the space and camp of a group.

Tactical retreat toward an allied group is permitted in war.

The mutahayyiz joins another front.

Ḥyz in the Quran (1)

Meccan: 0 Medinan: 1
Surah Al-Anfal : 16 Medinan
And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allah, and his refuge is Hell - and wretched is the destination.
