بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Verse 1 - Surah Al-A'laa: 4 words

سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى

Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,

سَبِّحِ sabbiḥi Glorify
ٱسْمَ is'ma (the) name
رَبِّكَ rabbika (of) your Lord
ٱلْأَعْلَى l-aʿlā the Most High

Verse 2 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

Who created and proportioned

ٱلَّذِى alladhī The One Who
خَلَقَ khalaqa created
فَسَوَّىٰ fasawwā then proportioned

Verse 3 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ

And who destined and [then] guided

وَٱلَّذِى wa-alladhī And the One Who
قَدَّرَ qaddara measured
فَهَدَىٰ fahadā then guided

Verse 4 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ

And who brings out the pasture

وَٱلَّذِىٓ wa-alladhī And the One Who
أَخْرَجَ akhraja brings forth
ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ l-marʿā the pasture

Verse 5 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ

And [then] makes it black stubble.

فَجَعَلَهُۥ fajaʿalahu And then makes it
غُثَآءً ghuthāan stubble
أَحْوَىٰ aḥwā dark

Verse 6 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ

We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget,

سَنُقْرِئُكَ sanuq'ri-uka We will make you recite
فَلَا falā so not
تَنسَىٰٓ tansā you will forget

Verse 7 - Surah Al-A'laa: 9 words

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ

Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.

إِلَّا illā Except
مَا mā what
شَآءَ shāa wills
ٱللَّهُ ۚ l-lahu Allah
إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed, He
يَعْلَمُ yaʿlamu knows
ٱلْجَهْرَ l-jahra the manifest
وَمَا wamā and what
يَخْفَىٰ yakhfā is hidden

Verse 8 - Surah Al-A'laa: 2 words

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

And We will ease you toward ease.

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ wanuyassiruka And We will ease you
لِلْيُسْرَىٰ lil'yus'rā to the ease

Verse 9 - Surah Al-A'laa: 4 words

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

So remind, if the reminder should benefit;

فَذَكِّرْ fadhakkir So remind
إِن in if
نَّفَعَتِ nafaʿati benefits
ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ l-dhik'rā the reminder

Verse 10 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ

He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.

سَيَذَّكَّرُ sayadhakkaru He will pay heed
مَن man (one) who
يَخْشَىٰ yakhshā fears (Allah)

Verse 11 - Surah Al-A'laa: 2 words

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى

But the wretched one will avoid it -

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا wayatajannabuhā And will avoid it
ٱلْأَشْقَى l-ashqā the wretched one

Verse 12 - Surah Al-A'laa: 4 words

ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,

ٱلَّذِى alladhī The one who
يَصْلَى yaṣlā will burn
ٱلنَّارَ l-nāra (in) the Fire
ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ l-kub'rā [the] great

Verse 13 - Surah Al-A'laa: 6 words

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ

Neither dying therein nor living.

ثُمَّ thumma Then
لَا lā not
يَمُوتُ yamūtu he will die
فِيهَا fīhā therein
وَلَا walā and not
يَحْيَىٰ yaḥyā will live

Verse 14 - Surah Al-A'laa: 4 words

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself

قَدْ qad Certainly
أَفْلَحَ aflaḥa has succeeded
مَن man (one) who
تَزَكَّىٰ tazakkā purifies (himself)

Verse 15 - Surah Al-A'laa: 4 words

وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ

And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.

وَذَكَرَ wadhakara And remembers
ٱسْمَ is'ma (the) name
رَبِّهِۦ rabbihi (of) his Lord
فَصَلَّىٰ faṣallā and prays

Verse 16 - Surah Al-A'laa: 4 words

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

But you prefer the worldly life,

بَلْ bal Nay
تُؤْثِرُونَ tu'thirūna You prefer
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ l-ḥayata the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا l-dun'yā (of) the world

Verse 17 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ

While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ wal-ākhiratu While the Hereafter
خَيْرٌۭ khayrun (is) better
وَأَبْقَىٰٓ wa-abqā and everlasting

Verse 18 - Surah Al-A'laa: 5 words

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ

Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,

إِنَّ inna Indeed
هَـٰذَا hādhā this
لَفِى lafī surely (is) in
ٱلصُّحُفِ l-ṣuḥufi the Scriptures
ٱلْأُولَىٰ l-ūlā [the] former

Verse 19 - Surah Al-A'laa: 3 words

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

صُحُفِ ṣuḥufi (The) Scriptures
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ib'rāhīma (of) Ibrahim
وَمُوسَىٰ wamūsā and Musa

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا

God and His angels shower their blessings on the Prophet. O believers, you should also send your blessings on him, and salute him with a worthy greeting.
