📖 1 min readThe All-Subduer is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One under whose dominion every creature remains.
To pronounce the name The All-Subduer in Arabic, we say: Al-Qahhar.
It is written in Arabic: القهار.
From the Arabic root ق-ه-ر (q-h-r, to subdue), on the intensive pattern فَعَّال (fa''al), it denotes irresistible and repeated mastery over all.
The Name “The All-Subduer” means: The One under whose dominion every creature remains. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to renounce pride, struggle against the passions, and trust Allah's power rather than personal means. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
