📖 1 min readThe King is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The absolute Sovereign who owns and governs all things.
To pronounce the name The King in Arabic, we say: Al-Malik.
It is written in Arabic: الملك.
From the Arabic root م-ل-ك (m-l-k, possession and rule), on the pattern فَعِل (fa'il), it names the one possessing complete sovereignty.
The Name “The King” means: The absolute Sovereign who owns and governs all things. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to govern the passions, exercise responsibility justly, and remember that all authority truly belongs to Allah. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
