📖 1 min readThe Majestic is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One to whom majestic attributes and perfection belong.
To pronounce the name The Majestic in Arabic, we say: Al-Jalil.
It is written in Arabic: الجليل.
From the Arabic root ج-ل-ل (j-l-l, majesty and greatness), on the pattern فَعِيل (fa'il), it denotes sublime majesty and exalted greatness.
The Name “The Majestic” means: The One to whom majestic attributes and perfection belong. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to grow in reverence and humility, never ascribing to creation what belongs only to the Creator. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
